My mom had Theophilus James Sims on the 8th of December, at 11:50 p.m.!
He weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces, ( and loves to snuggle, 1 year old children do not understand
the consept of snuggling! ) and is a bundle of love! My Mom told me to write my point of view
on when he was born. ( I got to be in the room.) So here's the story!
It was a long time. 8 hours to be exact. At 6:30 in the morning Mom started to think her water broke. Finally, at about 1:00 P.M., she wanted to go to the doctor, just to make sure. She was scheduled to be induced the next day, But she thought the baby might come naturally. So we got a babysitter. I was going to stay with the baby sitter until mom was sure she was/wasn't going
going to have him. If she was, my dad would come and pick me up. If she wasn't, she would return dad to work and go tomorrow. But, at the last minute, dad called mom. He decided I would go with mom and dad to see if her water really did break. So, me and mom went to pick up dad and go to the doctors office. (which is connected to the hospital by a large glass bridge.)
Me and dad were sitting in the waiting room to the doctors office while they checked Mom. In about 15 minutes she came out and said that her water really did break, and that they wanted her to stay. Dad called the babysitter, and he went home to get more comfortable clothes. I stayed with mom while he was gone. We watched a little TV and talked until dad got back. Mom was having very mild contractions. By then it was about 4:00. Me and dad went to the cafeteria to get some Late Lunch/Early Dinner. By the time we came back Mom was having less mild contractions. We watched some more TV, drew pictures and took some pictures with the camera. every once in a while Nurses would come in and raise her pitocin, and bring her pieces of ice. ( that was all she was allowed to eat.) It was about 5:00 by the time she was having contractions that were closer together. Soon a nurse came and put some cold wet rags on her forehead to make her feel better. She showed me how to cool them down if they were getting hot, and she left. They did that continually for about 3 hours, by then it was 8:00 and at 8:15 they were scheduled to give her antibiotics. The contractions were getting a lot closer and stronger. Nurses came in and checked her then said she was dilated at a 7. ( on a scale of 1-10 that's close) Soon the contractions were getting strong enough for her to say ow!ow!ow!ow!ow!ow!ow! whenever a contraction came along. Me and dad knew it would be soon. About an hour later a Nurse came along and checked on her, and she was dilated at an 8. That was about 9:30 P.M. . The Doctor then allowed Mom to eat things other than ice, like Jell-o, Popsicles, or yogurt. Mom had some Jell-o, and we watched some more TV. A Nurse came and checked on her and she was still at an 8. It seemed to Me that she was at a 9, Because of the change in the Strength and Closeness of the contractions.
The Nurse explained that Dr. Nord ( the guy that delivers the babies) would be there in about an hour. (He was gone at a basketball (or some other sport) game) In about half an hour, about 5 nurses came in. ( one was the delivery nurse) And Mom was having Very Strong contractions.
I was cooling down the rags every ten minutes or so, And in about 20 minutes, the doctor arrived. Mom wanted to push, But they said she wasn't dilated enough, and that it might hurt the baby or her if she pushed. Dr. Nord left to do some paperwork, and he came back 20 minutes
later. We were all relived to see him. Mom was crying and saying that she wanted to push, but they wouldn't let her. In about ten minutes her body was pushing and she couldn't stop it. They finally let her push, and in about 5 minutes the baby was born. Dr. Nord held him up for all of us to see. In a moment a nurse weighed him, and wrapped him in a blanket and handed him to mom. We all looked at him and smiled. Dad even cried he was so happy to see him! Me and Dad stayed for about 20 minutes, and we left. by the time we got home and got to bed, It was 1:30!
Mom came home on Friday, and everyone was so happy to see him.
So, That's my point of view on the story!
